I am a wife, mother, and historian. I work from home, researching, writing, designing exhibits, and immersing myself in the world of nineteenth century Louisiana. I spend the rest of my time mothering my toddler girl and baby boy.
I love literature, cooking, and all things PBS, BBC, and Masterpiece Theater. Though my ancestry and research focus on all things French, I also truly enjoy British culture and literature. My family has been in Louisiana since 1718, the year New Orleans was founded, and I am passionate about the history and culture of my family and state. Heritage is huge for me!
I am a cradle Catholic with a special devotion to the Blessed Mother and St. Francis (my middle name, my daughter’s middle name, my mother’s middle name, and my grandmother’s middle name are all Frances). I embrace constant prayer and know that I am nothing without my faith. I love to read the perspectives of others from different faiths and backgrounds and believe we are all here to point the way to the Father.
I am a compulsive reader. When I am not reading, I am dreaming of reading. My favorite literature tends toward the British or the Southern side of things, including Austen, the Brontes, Dickens, Ernest Gaines, and Harper Lee. As a girl, I fancied myself Anne of Green Gables, Laura Ingalls, and Nancy Drew all rolled into one.
My life is simple and quiet and small. For that I am thankful.
Thank you for reading.
